Mandatory pre-bid conferences for all parties interested in bidding the project will be held at 10:00 AM on 3/19/24 through Zoom: 1-312-626-6799, Meeting ID: 844 1096 3319. Password: 1867 AND 10:00 AM on Thursday, March 21, 2024, through Zoom: 1-312-626-6799, Meeting ID: 816 6206 7257. Password: 1867. Bidders only need to attend one of the mandatory pre-bid conferences available. Site Visits: NON-MANDATORY site visits will be held at the Undergraduate Library, 1402 W Gregory Drive, Urbana, IL. Meet at west side entrance. Representatives of the Owner and the Professional Services Consultant will be present to answer questions regarding the project and bidding procedures. ALL prospective bidders are ENCOURAGED to attend for clarification of site constraints. Meetings are planned for 3/22/2024, 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM and 3/28/2024, 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Representatives of the Owner and the Professional Services Consultant will be present to answer questions regarding the project and bidding procedures. All prospective bidders are REQUIRED to attend.

The Owner will receive separate sealed bids for the project. Each bid shall identify the name of the protected Subcontractor(s) if any, and the bid proposal costs, including alternates, for each of the following divisions of work that are applicable for this project. The contract entered into with the successful bidder shall identify that no identified Protected Subcontractor in the Bid Document 00 40 00 may be terminated without the written consent of Owner.

The Bidder, before submitting a bid for this Work, shall visit and carefully examine the site of Work in order to have full knowledge of, and to fully understand and appreciate, the facilities, difficulties, and restrictions attending the performance of the contract for which a bid is submitted. The Bidder shall take all required measurements and carefully inspect all existing conditions, constructions, irregularities, and interferences which may affect the Work under this contract.

Description

Description

Property Address is: 1402 W. Gregory Drive, Urbana, IL 61801 - The building is situated at the intersection of two quad (Main and South) near the heart of campus, with prominent neighbors including the Observatory and the Morrow Plots, known as the oldest agricultural research field in the United States. The existing Undergraduate Library connects to the adjacent Main Library via an underground tunnel.

The University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign Undergraduate Library is being transformed into the Archives and Special Collections Building as part of a redevelopment project. The building will be dedicated to preserving rare books, manuscripts, archival collections, and University historic records in a secure and climate-controlled environment. The building's exterior will feature a glass curtainwall with varying levels of insulated glazing panels and its interior will include instructional spaces, event spaces, a reading room, exhibit gallery, recording studio, staff work space, and public restrooms and lactation facilities. The project also includes the modernization of the buildings mechanical systems and infrastructure, including the addition of elevators and a loading dock for better accessibility.

This project includes a Project Labor Agreement that will be executed between the lowest responsible/responsive bidder and the East Central Illinois Building and Construction Trades Council. A copy of the Project Labor Agreement is included at the end of Section 00 90 00.
